About Us
Ann Hughes, M.D. is a board certified Family Medicine physician who has a strong background in Integrative Medicine. She is certified in Acupuncture and comes from a family that has practiced Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture for eight generations. Dr. Hughes also graduated at top of her class in medical school and completed her Family Medicine residency at the award-winning Providence hospital in Michigan. With a desire to help patients achieve optimal health, Dr. Hughes completed her Integrative Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan. During her fellowship she was awarded the “Provider of the Month Award” twice by her clinic patients and staff.
Dr. Hughes’s interest in Integrative Medicine began early in her career through observing the merits of the Eastern medicine her family practiced as well as the scientific rigidity of Western medicine in her university studies. To expand her knowledge of integrative medicine, she started attending integrative holistic medicine conferences back when she was an undergraduate in college. Her continuing interest eventually led her to complete an Integrative Medicine fellowship at the University of Michigan, a program that awards just one fellowship each year and is recognized as a top program internationally. Throughout her education, Dr. Hughes has learned from and worked with doctors who are pioneers in integrative medicine.
Dr. Hughes’s credentials and experience qualify her to offer care in both scientific-based alternative and conventional medicine. Dr. Hughes is board certified in Family Medicine and Fellowship-trained in Integrative Medicine at University of Michigan. She also has had extensive training in Eastern Medicine and is certified in Acupuncture. As a root-cause focused physician, Dr. Hughes looks at your health as a whole – body, mind, and spirit. She then devises an individualized plan that may include natural interventions, alternative therapies, nutrition advice, and lifestyle changes to restore, protect, and optimize your health.
